This pattern is for a beautiful, long sleeve casual jersey dress. It is so comfortable, that it will feel like a second skin to you! š If you follow the instructions you will create a biodegradable compostable garment utilising 99% of your fabric. Yes! You will have close to none fabric scraps left after youāve completed this project!
This process is called zero waste fashion design ā it integrates pattern cutting into the design process. Although it is not really new and has been applied widely in historical garments (kimonos are a good example) more recently it has been reinvented and pioneered by a group of designers. These include Timo Rissanen, Holy McQuillan, Maya Stabel, Juian Roberts amongst others. With this pattern, I am offering you the opportunity of diving into the world of zero waste fashion at your home and joining the growing numbers of sewers who favour this innovative method of making clothes!

FABRIC RECOMMENDATION:Ā Light t-shirt jersey would be ideal for this dress. I recommend to give preference to jersey fabrics that are composed of 100% natural materials, like 100% cotton. However if you struggle to find 100% natural fabrics you can go for the ones that contain up to 5% elastan/spandex or any other stretchy element.
I used 100% natural hemp jersey from https://www.seaofsilks.com ā a company that specialises in sourcing natural sustainable fabrics which are ethically made.
