PATTERNLESS HAREM STYLE PANTS - ZERO WASTE CLOTHES MAKING
Time Frame: This course will last roughly 8 weeks, possibly longer depending on commitment and skill level. For 8 weeks we will be meeting and working together and after that you will be continuing at home. You are welcome to work at your own pace and finish earlier or later. You will have my full support and guidance throughout.
Suitability: Medium sewers. You need to be able to use sewing machine and know some basic machine stitches, and have some understanding of fabric types. My other courses for beginners are a great way to start!
Important: You will need to come with your own fabric. Bring any light to medium weigh cotton/viscose, viscose, silk/cotton or silk/viscose blend. The fabric ideally should drape well. The length of your fabric will depend on your hip circumference. If your hips are under 100cm you will need 2 metres of your chosen fabric at least 112cm wide. If your hips measurement is more that 100cm, the width remains the same, but add to the length of your fabric piece the amount your heap measurement is over plus 4cm for ease of movement. For example your hips are 108cm. You need 2,12m of fabric instead of 2m (8cm + 4 cm for ease of movement = 12cm extra). Message me if this info is too confusing and I will help you to calculate how much fabric you need! Apart from Spotlight or Lincraft, DARN CHEAP FABRICS store at Glen Huntley road is a great place to look for your fabrics. The pants from the pictures above were made from silk/viscose blend fabric purchased at Darn Cheap Fabrics.
Skills to be learned: We will explore the topic of patternless clothes - how to create patterns without any knowledge of pattern making whatsoever! I will show you various techniques you can use to create basic clothes for yourself, we will look into patternless/zero waste clothes making throughout the history and in different cultures. We will have some practice of cutting patternless clothes on a mini scale level.
Description: After exploring the theory of patternless clothes making, will cut and sew a pair of harem style pants in your own size. I will teach you how to do calculations to customise the instructions to fit your shape.
Price: As I run my business on PAY WHAT YOU CAN approach (read more about it and how it works here) you will have a choice how much you pay for the whole project depending on your financial situation and value you put into it. The minimum cost will cover material and tools I provide to you. The maximum will also pay for my work and time spent with you on the project based on 8 weeks length. If you are going through financial hardship but would really love to take on this course you are welcome to pay the minimum price at once or in small weekly payments. If you can afford to pay the full amount or more, either at once or by weekly payments this will allow me to earn a fair income and help those who cannot afford to pay full amount right now.
